Multiple streams of income ideas – How failure leads to success

Making extra money online these days has become really easy. With all the platforms that are available world wide and the support, there is endless opportunity for creating multiple streams of income.

Often people don’t know where to start or how to start, this happened to me many years ago when I began to discover the potential of earning income from home using the internet. There is just something special about being your own boss, working flexible hours and not sitting in that morning and afternoon traffic rut, Bleh! If you put up with this daily then you definitely have more patience than me 🙂

The great news is that “traffic” has a positive connotation in the online world.

In this post I would like to share and present some ideas on how you can start or further develop your streams of income online.

Discussion Topics:

  1. Where to start and why.
  2. What is a Niche?
  3. Management.
  4. Affiliate programs.

Where to start and why

The best place to start is with yourself.

Spend a minute or two thinking who you really are, think of some positive changes you are capable of making.

Based on the type of individual you are, will reflect across to the people you deal with online who will potentially become part of your network or your customers.

Before we delve into suggestions for online opportunities you should do this short exercise to find a direction.

Write this down on your notepad, word or paper diary and most importantly be honest with yourself or risk running into major challenges and complications later:

  • Choose something you are really passionate about and feel like you can talk or write about it extensively, it might be a few things or just one particular thing for now.
  • Something you are really good at doing, like sport, cooking, gardening, helping people, music, electronics, technology, science, photography, sales, teaching, traveling or anything else you truly love and enjoy.
  • Do you only intend to make money or share something valuable and unique with the world?
  • What makes you unique as an individual? Perhaps something you feel no one else can relate to.
  • Do you consider yourself honest, trustworthy and helpful?
  • Are you the type of person that is willing to learn from other individuals even if you perceive yourself to be more knowledgeable or experienced?

If you elaborated slightly on each of these points above you will notice that the content you have written is unique. It doesn’t matter what your answers were, there is no right and wrong in this case. The whole idea of approaching all this, is to be YOU! As long as you are yourself (honest), you will remain relevant (interesting enough to follow) and build trust with those you attract.

Personally I like to share my failures with people 😀

Why you ask?

Well, firstly its better than being accused of bragging lol.

Secondly, you will hopefully learn NOT to make some of the mistakes I did. The reality is, the more we fail the more we succeed, if we don’t give up that is. Only when you give up do you truly fail.

“Success is a process, not an event”.

The first mistake I made when starting online was to go at it alone, with no support, no capital and zero credibility.

Finding support can be essential in starting your own business venture, especially if you do it with people you can trust.

If I had to do it all over again I would have started by creating my own website (digital skyscraper), this is probably one of the BEST investments you can make if you planning to build a serious long term online business. In a near future post I will explain all the benefits of owning your own website and domain.

So lets move on to the next discussion topic.

What is a Niche?

If you completed the short exercise above you should have your niche.

The proper definition in context to this post is:

As an adverb: Denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population.

Let me use an example.

If you chose sports, lets narrow it down to a niche.

How? Like this…

Sports – Boxing – “Boxing Equipment”

You can narrow it down even more to “Boxing Gloves” but “Boxing Equipment” will then be your niche.

Here are a few more niches within the boxing theme.

Diet for a Boxer – Boxing Exercise Routine – Boxing Gyms – Boxing Techniques.

Basically any subject you choose will have a niche (a group of people with interest) associated with it.

Do not overwhelm yourself by loading your brain with to many ideas.

The best approach is to write down some personal goals.

  • What do you want to accomplish within the next 24 hours?
  • What do you want to accomplish within the next month?
  • What would you like to earn (per month) and how much time are you willing to invest in yourself and your business?

I wanted to address the management aspect before presenting you with a few affiliate opportunities that can and will lead to multiple streams of income if approached and applied correctly. Do not jump into all of them and expect overnight results, this will not be the right approach. Take your time, read threw each review carefully and make a educated assessment of what would be suitable for you.

I would recommend picking one and become orientated first before moving to the next.

I’m new in the affiliate world and online business. For me this kind of articles are worth a lot. I get a little bit wiser every time I read new things, tips and ideas about how to work online and what I should take into account to do so. I guess I have a niche, just not sure how many people it will attract. I think it’s one of the most important niches in the online world, it’s the basics: usability/user experience. But my fear is to be to “academic” and to have problems to reach the “mass”. But I will do as you say: trial and error. Learning from misstakes is a great school.

      Hi Linda

Glad this helped in some way 🙂

I had a similar dilemma, being slightly unsure about my approach, that it would not be academic enough and people won’t get anything valuable out of my articles but then it occurred to me that people actually might like “simple” and will relate better, especially if they starting out. Once we accept that failure is just an ingredient in the recipe to success, it becomes a lot easier to carry on moving forward.

You have a great niche there! No one can progress unless they know how to use the tools necessary to build a online business and navigation becomes a key aspect so you have a HUGE range of topics to cover.

      All the best,

      1. Linda

Thank you for your encouraging words:-) And good luck with your niche!

thank you for sharing your experiences with me. I to had some failures such as being to broad. I had to fix my first website and clean up the things I wasn’t planning on using for a while. How do you go about someone who might be visiting your site who may know more about your subject than you do? Do you take it as a learning experience from them?

    Thank you for your help

      Hi Jessie

      That is an excellent question!

I highly encourage interacting with individuals who are more experienced than us at our niche because this is how we add value, we learn and grow thanks to their insight. If they are able to give us feedback or constructive criticism it can only help our cause going forward. I consider these people as gems and will be highly motivated to network with them if its possible.

The only way we become more educated and skilled is if we learn from those who are better than us 🙂

      Best regards,
